Addiction on various substances is one of the burning problems of the new age, so there is a growing need for its treatment. Apart from hospital and pharmacotherapy treatment, an important part of the addiction treatment are various support programs in community such as psychosocial rehabilitation, counseling and resocialization, which are legally regulated in the Republic of Croatia and carried out through various associations. There are also harm reduction programs that become more and more interesting to the public, as well as self-help groups for addicts, for the parents of children addicts, which are founded without professional help. In the course of addiction treatment, cooperation with professionals of various professions is very important in order to cultivate a multidisciplinary approach, so doctors, as well as social workers, social pedagogues and psychologists participate in curing treatment. The role of social work is emphasized especially in the segment of providing support, resocialisation and also researching addicts needs and problems as well as finding solutions for them through various methods of social work. informing about rights from health and social welfare system and social services that users are entitled to.
