Disabilities in child development can occur at birth or can be determined later in life. They may be influenced by genetic factors, disorders on chromosomes, environmental factors in utero, congenital biochemical imbalances, infections or addictive substances. The difficulties that the child has, may cause a severe stress and frustration to everyone being involved in the child's life, after all leading to violence against children. Other children and adults who do not understand how it is to be different, can be very cruel with their inappropriate comments and actions towards children with disabilities. Many children are suffering their whole life due to the fact they are seen exclusively through their developmental impairment, and not primarily as all other children with their pure abilities, traits, feelings, talents, desires and dreams. Violence against children with disabilities is becoming more common and increasingly a prevalent social problem that should be addressed. In this final thesis we have defined who the children with disabilities are, but also we will talk about risk factors, predicate, the consequences of experienced violence, research papers and examples from practice, as well as the protection of children with disabilities and the possibilities of prevention.
