The aim of this study was to gain insights into the perception of social system support for foster families. Two research questions were raised: 1. How do foster families for people with psychological difficulties describe co-operation with social welfare system? 2. How are foster families satisfied with their own preparation for foster care? The research was conducted in foster homes, and 6 foster families participated. The data were collected by a semi-structured interview method which was averaged lasted about 30 minutes. Data were analysed using thematic analysis and the obtained results shows that foster families collaboration with experts from social welfare centers describes in a way the center as a source of professional help, center as a source of support, describing cooperation as a relationship of partnership, mutual understanding, and also cited less intensity of cooperation. But they also point to an unequal relationship, inadequate cooperation with experts, and a sense of underpayment. Regarding the satisfaction of their own preparedness for the role of the foster carer, the participants of this research indicate the feeling of adequate preparation for the role of foster carer but one part of the participants also cites the feeling of insufficient preparation for the role of foster carer, pointing out the need for greater information about psychological difficulties.
