Tehnological progress in medicine, changes made in medical ethics and recognition of psychological and spirtual needs of dying patients have enabled the development of palliative care. Palliative care is defined as active, total care for a patient whose disease is no longer responsive to curative treatment with painf relief and meeting the patient's emotional, social, spiritual and other needs being the most important thing. Main goal of palliative care is providing the best possible quality of life before death. In order for that goal to be achived, all the patient's special needs met and complex problems solved, a teamwork of experts from different areas is needed. Palliative care team usually consists of a doctor, nurse, social workers and spiritualists. Besides them, palliative care team can consist of volunteers and other proffesionals if needed. Within a interdisciplinary approach, the team works together in order to achieve set mutual goal which is providing the best possible care for patient. Each member of the team has a range of skills that helps them to evaluate the patient from their own perspective which gives more detailed insight into patient's condition
