Cilj tih intervencija je poboljšati kvalitetu skrbi i kvalitetu života oboljelih osoba, a upravo u njima leži ključ očuvanja dostojanstva oboljele osobe do samog kraja njenog života.
Abstract (english) New demographic trends have been one of the main topics in recent years, both in Croatia and in the rest of the developed world. The population is slowly aging and there is an increasing share of people over 65 who are also at greater risk of developing certain diseases, including dementia. There are currently around 100,000 people living with dementia in Croatia, around 6.4 million in EU countries, and around 50 million worldwide. It is estimated that this number will grow to 115 million. In 2012, the World Health Organization declared Alzheimer's disease a public health priority and thus encouraged its members to develop national strategies to combat this disease. Given the nature of this disease and its consequences, the issue of care for the sick and the possibilities for protecting their dignity and preserving a satisfactory level of quality of life arises. The intensity and form of care for people suffering from dementia depends on the stage of the disease and the condition of the patient. Care services for this group in Croatia are slowly improving, but they are still quite underdeveloped and do not meet current needs. Zagreb is ahead of other Croatian cities in the variety and scope of services it offers. There is informal and formal care, and formal care includes institutional forms such as psychiatric hospitals and homes for the elderly, and non-institutional forms such as gerontological centers and foster care for people with dementia. In addition to indispensable pharmacological therapy that helps in reducing the unfavorable symptoms of dementia, psychosocial interventions that focus on resources that remain in the person, and not on deficits, through a person-centered approach, play an increasingly important role. The goal of these interventions is to improve the quality of care and the quality of life of people with dementia. Numerous psychosocial interventions are grouped into thematic groups of creative, sensory, psychological, environmental and activity-based interventions.
