The decisions of Croatian courts are available through the portal called Portal sudske prakse (Court practice portal), an information system created as part of the PHARE 2006 project with the aim of providing insight into the judicial practice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia and other courts in the Republic of Croatia. Although the public availability of court decisions is important for several reasons, the right to personal data protection places numerous restrictions on such practice, the most important of which is the requirement that any processing of personal data should be necessary. The purpose of this paper is to critically examine whether the approach that is currently applied regarding the anonymization of court decisions in the Republic of Croatia is adequate in the context of the applicable legal framework for the protection of personal data. The thesis of the author of this paper is that the Croatian courts currently do not anonymize decisions in a way that corresponds to the applicable standards. Consequently, personal data protection rules continue to apply, with all their consequences. So, first of all, this graduation thesis analyzes what is personal data in the legal sense, while the second part is focused on the analysis of the concept of anonymization and pseudonymization, methods that are currently used in the Republic of Croatia to achieve the anonymity of decisions and examples of good practices from other EU member states, along with the author's point of view on possible improvements to the current system of publishing court decisions.
