Abstract
Unapređenjem društva produljuje se životni vijek ljudi. Iz tog razloga dolazi do sve većeg porasta starijih osoba ne samo u Hrvatskoj, već u cijelom svijetu. Osobe starije životne dobi suočene su s raznim poteškoćama koje utječu na njihovo zadovoljstvo i kvalitetu života. Pred starijim osobama često su izazovi i problemi koji im otežavaju svakodnevno funkcioniranje i prilagodbu društvu. Ljudi imaju predrasude prema starijim osobama i često ih smatraju nemoćnima. Zbog toga se starije osobe često susreću s diskriminacijom. Udio starog stanovništva u Republici Hrvatskoj je prema posljednjem popisu stanovništva 2011. godine iznosio je 17,7%, no prema novim izračunima ta brojka doživjela je porast. Starije osobe su prema podatcima koje je izdao Državni zavod za statistiku Republike Hrvatske skupina s najvećom stopom rizika od siromaštva. Može se uočiti i razlika između starijih osoba muškog i ženskog spola. Žene su te koje se susreću s određenim problemima koji dodatno ugrožavaju njihov položaj u društvu, njihovo svakodnevno funkcioniranje i kvalitetu života.
Abstract (english)
Life expectancy has increased dramatically around the globe. For this reason, there is a growing number of elderly people in the world, including Croatia. Older people often face various difficulties that affect their satisfaction and quality of life. They face problems that affect their adaption in society. People have a prejudice against the elderly. This is why older people often face discrimination. The share of the old population according to the last census in the Republic of Croatia in 2011 was 17.7%, and there were no new trends and the number of inhabitants increased. According to data issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Croatia, the elderly have the highest at-risk-of-poverty rate.The difference between male and female elderly people can also be noticed. Women face certain problems that further jeopardize their position in society and their quality of life on a daily basis.
