Abstract
Ishodišta onečišćenja morskog okoliša su različita i stoga ih je vrlo teško definirati na precizan i jasan način. Prva definicija onečišćenja morskog okoliša podrazumijeva unošenje tvari ili energije u morski okoliš koje uzrokuju teške posljedice za život u moru, ugrožavaju zdravlje ljudi, te ometaju pomorske djelatnosti, a nalazi se u Konvenciji UN o pravu mora iz 1982. godine, koja predstavlja najznačajniji međunarodni pravni okvir zaštite morskog okoliša. Kroz diplomski rad daje se prikaz najznačajnijih konvencija, direktiva, protokola, te drugih propisa kojima se štiti morski okoliš od raznoraznih izvorišta onečišćenja. Najvažniji preventivni propis koji regulira sprječavanje onečišćenja mora s brodova je Međunarodna konvencija o sprječavanju onečišćenja s brodova MARPOL.
Abstract (english)
The origin of pollution of the marine environment is different and therefore very difficult to define in a precise and clear way. The first definition of pollution of the marine environment implies the introduction of substances or energy into the marine environment which cause serious consequences for life in the sea, endanger human health and hinder maritime activities, as contained in the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which represents the most important international legal framework for the protection of the marine environment. The thesis presents the most important conventions, directives, protocols and other regulations that protect the marine environment from various sources of pollution. The most important preventive legislation regulating the prevention of marine pollution from ships is the International Convention for the Prevention of pollution from ships MARPOL.
