Abstract
Ovaj rad istražuje izazove i strategije za zaštitu kulturne baštine Mediterana u kontekstu podizanja razine mora. S obzirom na to da su mnoga značajna kulturna i arheološka nalazišta smještena uz obalu Sredozemnog mora, podizanje razine mora predstavlja ozbiljnu prijetnju za očuvanje dobara kulturne baštine. Kroz analizu dostupnih podataka, istraženi su glavni učinci podizanja razine mora na kulturnu baštinu. Pregledani su i različiti mehanizmi zaštite kulturne baštine, uključujući nacionalne zakone, međunarodne konvencije poput UNESCO-ove Konvencije o zaštiti svjetske kulturne i prirodne baštine, te lokalne inicijative za prilagodbu i očuvanje. Rad ističe važnost daljnjih istraživanja i integriranog pristupa kako bi se osiguralo efikasno upravljanje i očuvanje kulturne baštine Mediterana u eri klimatskih promjena. Rad također ističe ulogu međunarodne suradnje i solidarnosti u suočavanju s ovim izazovom te poziva na jačanje kapaciteta za zaštitu kulturne baštine Mediterana.
Abstract (english)
This paper explores the challenges and strategies for protecting the Mediterranean's cultural heritage in the context of rising sea levels. Given that many significant cultural and archaeological sites are located along the Mediterranean coast, the rising sea levels pose a serious threat to the preservation of cultural heritage assets. Through the analysis of available data, the main effects of sea level rise on cultural heritage have been investigated. Various mechanisms for protecting cultural heritage have also been reviewed, including national laws, international conventions such as the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and local initiatives for adaptation and conservation. The paper highlights the importance of further research and an integrated approach to ensure effective management and preservation of the Mediterranean's cultural heritage in the era of climate change. The paper also emphasizes the role of international cooperation and solidarity in addressing this challenge and calls for strengthening the capacity to protect the Mediterranean's cultural heritage.
