The concept of diplomacy is often identified with the way and the process by which foreign policy objectives are achieved. It is also defined for conducting state affairs in the field of foreign policy through official relations with other countries and international organisations. Diplomatic history focuses on the historical continuity of the efforts of communities to resolve mutual relations and differences peacefully and constructively, through dialogue and settlement. Diplomacy is also considered a special skill. It is primarily a skill for performing tastks in the field of international relations, especially in the representing the interests of the state , relevant communication , ability ro conduct negations , gathering information , and analysis.Croatia as an independent and sovereign state was established in 1991, so we can only interpret the diplomacy of the modern Republic of Croatia from the year the Republic of Croatia was established. This final work is dedicated to the older period of the history of Croatian diplomacy, while it has not yet become independent and sovereign, because the forerunner of the current diplomacy of the Republic of Croatia is the diplomacy of the states in which Croatia was before 1991. There is no doubt that croatian diplomacy developed in very difficult conditions , burdened by the struggle for recognition of state independence , the imposed war and the tranistional legacy.Looking from this perspective , we can be satisfied with the results achieved , because the Republic of Croatia in just two decades of independence has managed to establish itself as a full-fledged entity of the international community , a member of NATO , a country that is also a member of the EU. At the same time , she us a respected participant in peacekeeping missions around the world , and a leader in development and a factor in strenghthening stability and security in the region.
