This paper deals with contracts between footballers and football clubs, within the framework of sports contract law. In addition to a review of historical developments, it cites currently valid sources governing this matter and offers a detailed analysis of all the components of such contracts, as well as the actions that precede its conclusion, until its termination. The basis of this paper was the textbook Sports Law by Professor Hrvoje Kačer and other co-authors, as well as scientific articles by prominent legal experts on this and related topics. Part of the work was created on the basis of the author's own experience and knowledge, the author's conversations with representatives of both sides of the said contract, and the author's own experience and knowledge. The scientific methods used in writing this paper are: the inductive method, based on a large number of previously analyzed cases, as well as those personally studied; method of analysis in both its functions, descriptive and explicative; synthesis method; method of concretization; generalization method; historical method; comparative method and empirical method. It is important to emphasize that the method of sampling, which is otherwise very popular in writing such papers, was not used because it is in concreto meaningless
