Subject of this paper is an analysis of legitimate portion in the frame of inheritance law. This paper contains 9 chapters, 3 of which are dedicated to inheritance law in general with purpose of better understanding the institute of legitimate inheritance trough prism of inheritance law. Other chapters elaborate different aspects of inheritance law, starting from historical development of this institute, its legal nature and all through authorized persons and legal consequences of acquiring legitimate portion. The paper also compares the legal regulations of individual segments of the institute of legitimate portion as found in the Inheritance Act in relation to the one that existed in the previous eponymous law which was in force until the entry into force of the current. Scientific methods used during the writing of the paper have been: classification method, analysis and synthesis method, induction and deduction method, proof and refutation method and historical method.
