| Abstract | Već od samih osnutaka Europske zajednice, šest država - osnivačica (Belgija, Francuska, Italija, Luksemburg, Nizozemska i Njemačka) postojala je namjera u stvaranju slobodnog tržišta te slobodnih integracija, odnosno kretanja. Priča o prostoru bez unutarnje kontrole, kroz razvoj Europske unije kojem pristupa sve više država, namjera se pretvorila u stvarnost te je 1995. godine na snagu stupio Schengenski sporazum. Danas preko 400 milijuna ljudi živi u Schengen zoni, koja se sastoji od 23 države članice i 4 države koje nisu članice Europske unije: Island, Norveška, Švicarska i Linhenštajn. Irska nije dio područja Schengena jer je odlučila zadržati kontrolu na svojim granicama, iako redovito surađuje u rješavanju pitanja iz područja sudstva i policije. Cipar, Bugarska i Rumunjska još nisu uvršteni u Schengen zonu, iako su članice Europske unije već dugi niz godina, s obzirom da ne ispunjavaju potrebne uvjete i nisu uspjele dosegnuti propisane standarde. Kroz ovaj rad deskriptivnom metodom pojasnit ćemo osnovne pojmove, kao što su Europska Unija i Schengenski režim. |
| Abstract (english) | Since the founding of the European Community, the six founding states (Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Germany) have intended to create a free market and free integration, i.e., movement. The story of an area without internal control, through the development of the European Union, and the accession of more and more countries to it, the intention became a reality, and in 1995 the Schengen Agreement entered into force. Today, over 400 million people live in the Schengen area, which consists of 23 Member States and 4 non-EU countries: Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Ireland is not part of the Schengen area because she has decided to keep control of her borders, although she regularly cooperate in resolving issues in the field of judiciary and police. Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania have not yet been included in the Schengen area, although they have been members of the European Union for many years, as they do not meet the necessary conditions and have failed to meet the prescribed standards. Through this paper, we will use a descriptive method to clarify basic concepts, such as the European Union and the Schengen regime. |
