Abstract
Fotosinteza je najvažniji fizikalno-kemijski proces o kojem ovisi postojanje svih živih bića. U živom se svijetu pojavio vrlo rano, kada je život na Zemlji postojao isljučivo u obliku mikroorganizama. Fotosintetski organizmi su organizmi koji imaju sposobnost vršenja fotosinteze. To su biljke te fotosintetski mikroorganizmi koji u svojim stanicama posjeduju pigment klorofil (alge, euglena, neke bakterije). Unatoč očiglednim različitostima između ovih organizama, sam proces fotosinteze u njima je veoma sličan. U današnje vrijeme, najvažnija uloga fotosintetskih mikroorganizama je zbrinjavanje okoliša na način da uklanjaju štetne plinove iz otpada organskog porijetla, kojeg ujedno i razgrađuju. Indikatori su onečišćenja voda te su neizostavna karika u biološkom ciklusu dušika, sumpora i ugljika.
Abstract (english)
Photosynthesis is the most important physicochemical process that has the existence of all living beings depending on it. Photosynthesis appeared in the living world very early, when life on Earth existed exclusively in the form of microorganisms. Photosynthetic organisms are organisms that have the ability to perform photosynthesis. They include plants and photosynthetic microorganisms who own the pigment chlorophyll (algae, euglena and specific photosynthetic bacterias). Despite the obvious differences between the organisms, the process of photosynthesis in them is very similar. Nowadays, the most important role of photosynthetic microorganisms is to protect the environment by removing harmful gases from organic waste, which they also degrade. They are indicators of water pollution and represent an indispensable link in the biological cycle of nitrogen, sulfur and carbon.
