Abstract
Konvergencija Jadranske mikroploče pod Euroazijsku ploču i njezina rotacija u suprotnom smjeru od kazaljke na satu rezultira seizmički aktivnim pojasom na području srednje i južne Dalmacije, a koje se dalje proteže prema Albaniji i Grčkoj. Najjači zabilježen potres na području Stona i Slanog, 40-ak km SZ od Dubrovnika, dogodio se 5. rujna 1996. godine (M = 6,0, Imax=VIII° MSK) prouzročivši velike materijalne štete u mnogim južnodalmatinskim naseljima. Područje istraživanja u ovom diplomskom radu obuhvaća naslage mezozojske starosti od donjeg trijasa do gornje krede, uglavnom izgrađene od vapnenaca i dolomita, paleogensko-neogenske karbonatno-klastične naslage kao i kvartarne slabo vezane klastične naslage. Kako bi se što bolje interpretirao strukturni sklop južne Dalmacije, u ovome radu je konstruirano pet međusobno paralelnih profila poprečnih na strukture dinaridskog pružanja. Kompresijska tektonika rezultirala je stvaranjem borano-navlačnog pojasa u kojem su dominantni fault-bend i fault-propagation tipovi bora, ali i sustava reversnih i navlačnih rasjeda čiji su kutovi nagiba između 30° i 50°. Površine interpretiranih rasjeda su u rasponu od 22,83 do 1692,05 km2. Korištenjem Petroleum Expert Move softvera konstruirani 3D geološki model omogućio je vizualizaciju i interpretaciju kompleksne geometrije struktura u podzemlju. Na temelju geometrijskih parametara rasjeda empirijski proračunate vrijednosti najveće magnitude mogućih potresa u rasponu od 5,55 do 7,24 po Richteru ukazuju da interpretirani rasjedi predstavljaju značajan seizmički rizik i hazard za područje južne Dalmacije.
Abstract (english)
The convergence of the Adriatic Microplate under the Eurasian plate and its counter-clockwise rotation results in a seismically active belt in central and southern Dalmatia, which extends further towards Albania and Greece. The strongest earthquake in the area of Ston-Slano, about 40 km NE of Dubrovnik, occurred on September 5th, 1996 (M = 6.0, Imax = VIII ° MSK) causing substantial material damage in many southern Dalmatian settlements. This thesis is focused on Mesozoic deposits ranginge in age from the Upper Triassic to the Upper Cretaceous, mainly built of limestones and dolomites, Paleogene–Neogene carbonate-clastic deposits and Quaternary unconsolidated clastic deposits. In order to interpret the structural architecture of the studied part of southern Dalmatia, five parallel geological profiles were constructed, perpendicular to the NW–SE striking Dinaric structures. Compression tectonics resulted in fold-thrust belt in which fault-bend and fault-propagation types of foldes are dominant, as well as a system of reverse and thrust faults, with dip angles between 30° and 50°. The surface areas of the interpreted fault planes range from 22.83 to 1692.05 km2. Using of Petroleum Expert Move software for the constructed 3D geological model enabled the visualization and interpretation of the complex geometry of subsurface structures. The geometric parameters of the faults show that the empirically calculated values of the earthquake magnitudes range from 5.55 to 7.24 according to Richter, and thus the interpreted faults represent a significant seismic risk and hazard in the area of southern Dalmatia.
