The topic of this final paper is to design a technological process for the production of a lid in the amount of 20,000 pieces per year. The first step in the development of the technological process was the analysis of the draft from a construction and technological point of view, which determined whether the draft is fully defined and whether there are problems with the approach of the tool. After that, it is necessary to choose the optimal shape of the semi-finished product from a technological and economical point of view. In this case, it is better to cast the semi-finished product reather than milling a rectangular bar beacause of the long term cost involved, which we proved by calculating the critical value. The next step is to structure the operations and define each operation, furthermore each operation is devided into procedures so that we can determine the parameters of the procedure and calculate the time of each procedure and operation. This was followed by the preparation of technological documentation, which includes: a list of operations, an operating sheet and a list of machines. Finally, it is still necessary to calculate the economic and productive cutting speed for one rough and one fine machining operation. The economic or productive cutting speed tells us one or the other extreme for the workpiece cutting speed.
