Abstract
Dizelski motori su svuda oko nas, u velikom broju osobnih automobila te većini teretnih vozila. Vrlo su popularni zbog visoke iskoristivosti, velikog okretnog momenta te izvrsne pouzdanosti. Njihova najveća mana je emisija ispušnih plinova koji sadrže dušikov oksid, čađu te crni dim koji sa sobom nosi kancerogene čestice. Kako bi unaprijedili dizelski motor tvrtka Achates je razvila dizelski motor s nasuprotnim klipovima koji je tema ovog rada. Ukratko je opisan početni razvoj motora s nasuprotnim klipovima, to jest razvoj bitnih karakteristika koje se koriste i u modernim izvedbama te je navedeno nekoliko uspješnih motora s nasuprotnim klipova kroz povijest. Opisane su glavne karakteristike Achates motora, te razlike između motora s nasuprotnim klipovima i klasičnog dizelskog motora. Napravljen je termodinamički proračun jednog motora iz ponude tvrtke Achates koristeći podatke pronađene na stranici tvrtke.
Abstract (english)
Diesel engines are all around us, in the majority of trucks and in many passenger cars. They are very popular due to their high efficiency, high torque and excellent reliability. Their biggest flaw is the emission of exhaust gases that contain nitrogen oxide, soot and black smoke that carries carcinogenic particles. In order to improve the diesel engine, the Achates company developed a diesel engine with opposed pistons, which is the subject of this paper. The initial development of engines with opposed pistons is briefly described, that is, the development of essential characteristics that are used in modern versions as well, and several other successful engines with opposed pistons are listed. The main characteristics of the Achates engine are described, as well as the differences between the engine with opposed pistons and the classic diesel engine. A thermodynamic calculation of an engine from the company Achates was made using data found on the company's website.
