In the past, great industry revolutions were based on some revolutionary product that changed the way of production completely, while in today's era of increasing digitization, a completely new revolution is taking place based on the management and better use of information (data). That's how we get the term Shipbuilding 4.0, which is based on the automated integration of live data for the purpose of making decisions and improving production. This Master thesis describes the pipe workshop and all activities that occur during the construction of various types of pipes. The focus is on the improvement of the pipe workshop of the observed shipyard, i.e. the material flow. To improve the existing workshop, we used the SLP method, which is used to connect several logically arranged (interdependent) areas, in such a way as to obtain the greatest possible flow of material in product processing with the lowest cost and the least work involved. We generated the result by using the Blockplan program and designed a new pipe workshop for the resulting solution. We also mentioned some new systems that are part of Shipbuilding 4.0. and in the future they will certainly find its application in all aspects of shipbuilding processes. These are systems for the identification, tracking and locating of pipes from the moment they arrive at the shipyard, all the way to the final installation on the ship. In this thesis, we are interested in the type of pipe that is capable of transmitting signals that will enable us to provide useful services to the shipyard in order to improve and facilitate the production process.
