Cardan shafts are power transmissions that are widely used in various branches of industry. The advantage of the cardan shaft is that it can compensate for different angular and transverse displacements. It is suitable for power transmission in machines that do not have constant angular and transverse displacements, but change during operation. In this paper, a calculation for constructing a cardan shaft was made. From the known parameters of torque and rotation speed, which are given in the task, the necessary dimensions of the cardan are determined. After determining the minimum cross-sectional dimensions of the cardan shaft, an appropriate standard cross-sectional dimension was selected. An analysis of different variants was carried out, that is, the change in the number of revolutions, as well as the change in torque depending on the angular compensation of the cardan shaft, was analyzed. After the analysis of various angular displacements, joint splines were analyzed and it was determined under which conditions the joint can successfully transmit torque when compensating for larger angular displacements, without the risk of breakage.
