Throughout this calculation paper, the working parameters of the hydraulic exhaust valve propulsion are displayed. Three curve graphs representing the analysis of the exhaust valve dynamics are used. The first curve represents the axial displacement of the valve, the second curve represents the speed of the valve and finally the third curve represents the correlation of the valve acceleration with the angular displacement of the camshaft. During the calculation process of the pneumatic spring, it is necessary to start with the pre-stress force in the spring of the valve to insure a complete closure of the valve after the wheel has passed over the cam of the exhaust valve. The air spring must constantly maintain the actuator pump in contact with the cam on the camshaft. In addition, there are multiple calculations displayed, concerning the forces acting on the movement of the valves. Valve weight and pressure force on the upper side of the valve are involved in the opening of the valve, while the valve platter on the bottom side, affected by the gas pressure force, is involved in the closing of the valve as the air spring force. The gas pressure force is usually omitted from literature but is crucial for correct calculations. The uses of hydraulic oil pump on the propulsion of the exhaust valve and the pneumatic return spring have made it possible to significantly improve the ships propulsion machine. As a result of this improvement the emission of gasses and the fuel consumption have decreased while keeping the optimal engine power and speed.
