One of the areas in which accounting policies have the most significant impact on the business result are fixed assets and depreciation of tangible and intangible fixed assets, inventories and receivables, i.e. the company's assets in general. For these assets International Financial Reporting Standards as well as Croatian Financial Reporting Standards provide the possibility of different methods and techniques, i.e. accounting policies, of determining value of the assets. The subject of this paper are the accounting policies for disclosure of assets value and their impact on the financial position and performance of the company's operations. The paper will define the accounting policies for reporting the value of assets according to International Financial Reporting Standards and Croatian Financial Reporting Standards, as well as the significance of the application of accounting policies in the business operations of companies. The impact of different accounting policies related to the value of assets used by companies in the preparation of their financial statements, as well as the possible impact of alternative policies on the financial result and financial position of the company will be presented on examples. The objective is to accept or reject the assumption that accounting policies for disclosure of assets value of company have an impact on the achievement of business results, and whether it is possible to manipulate certain items of financial statements by applying certain accounting policies and to what extent.
