Caries is an infectious disease with more factors which affects people of all ages and which is present in developed and undeveloped parts of the world. Inspite of the improvement of oral higiene and oral health, caries remains a huge problem in modern countries all over the world. Epidemiological studies show that the total number of caries lesions is decreasing but the decrease of caries in fissures and pits is the least. Because of that the aim is totally reasonable that the appearance of occlusial caries is reduced by aimed measures. The usage of fluoride, which reduces caries incidence and participates in remineralization of incipent caries lesions, helps a lot in preserving and controlling oral health. The topical application of fluoride combined with good oral hygiene is the most effective way of prevention of caries. Fluoride can effectively decrease the activity of caries, so if the risk of caries is occurence is higher, a more intensive treatment is needed. The appearance of caries in fissures is also remarkably reduced by the fissure sealants hethod and the making of preventive fillings. To prevent caries it should be acted by education of patients, parents, improvement of oral hygiene and diet and also the development of consciousness of the importance maintaining the teeth’s health.
