Dental implants are a popular solution for replacing missing teeth due to their durability and aesthetic advantages. However, as with any medical procedure, there are risks of complications. One of the most common complications is the development of peri­implant mucositis and periimplantitis, inflammatory processes around implants that can affect soft and hard tissues. Risk factors for the development of peri­implantitis include improper oral hygiene, smoking, immunodeficiency, improper implant placement, and excessive implant loading. Treating periimplantitis is a complex process that requires a multidisciplinary approach. The primary goal of treatment is to stop the progression of the disease, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue regeneration. Therapeutic procedures include surgical regenerative treatment, soft tissue augmentation, antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, use of lasers, and the use of biomaterials. The choice of therapeutic approach depends on the size and location of inflammation as well as the overall health status of the patient. This review provides a comprehensive overview of therapeutic procedures developed for the restoration of soft and hard tissues in peri­implantitis. The paper provides a contemporary and comprehensive review of available techniques, including the advantages and disadvantages of each technique, which helps dentists make decisions about the most appropriate approach to treating their patients.
