In this work the possibility of manufacturing esthetic inlays are briefly described, furthermore a description of their production materials, clinical and laboratory procedures, indications and contraindications, as well as advantages and disadvantages of the particular systems is also given. Composite inlays differs from the standard composite restoration by its way of retention, shape of the cavity and manufacturing procedures. There are three ways of producing composite inlays: indirect technique, semidirect intra- and extraoral technique. The Targis –Vectris inlay is made out of a ceromere and a fibre reinforced composite. It is characterised by its simplicity of production, good mechanical, physical, chemical and esthetic properties, and is a good choice for the patient.Ceramic inlays are manufactured as full ceramic systems. The best properties are seen in those manufactured from the glass-ceramic. It can be produced by firing (In-Ceram), pressing (IPS Empress), casting (Dicor) and machining (CEREC) technique. The CAD/CAM technology of producing inlays and veneers in a single visit by the aid of an “optical impression” was introduced in dentistry with the arrival of the CEREC device.
