Abstract
Sjögrenov sindrom je bolest koju karakterizira suhoća očiju i usne šupljine uzrokovana destrukcijom suznih žlijezda i žlijezda slinovnica. To je autoimuna bolest, koja se može očitovati kao primarni i sekundarni oblik. Očni simptomi su: pečenje i suhoća očiju, suzenje oka, osjećaj stranog tijela i fotofobija. Oralne karakteristike: suhoća sluznice, poteškoće pri žvakanju i gutanju i povećana sklonost karijesu. Dijagnoza Sjögrenovog sindroma zasniva se na subjektivnim i objektivnim nalazima koji potvrđuju oštećenje ili disfunkciju suznih žlijezda i slinovnica. Terapijskim pristupom nastoji se sačuvati postojeći suzni film i stimulirati aktivno žlijezdano tkivo. Nadomjesna terapija uključuje primjenu umjetnih suza i umjetne sline.
Abstract (english)
The Sjögren syndrome is a disease characterised by dryness of eyes and mouth cavity caused by the destruction of lacrymal and salivary glands. It is an autoimmune disease, which can be manifested in the primary and secondary forms. The eye symptoms are: sore and dry eyes, eye watering, foreign body sensation and photophobia. The oral characteristics are: dry mucous membrane, difficulties with chewing and swallowing and greater tendency to caries. The Sjögren syndrome diagnosis is based on subjective and objective findings which confirm the damage or disfunction of lacrymal and salivary glands. In the therapeutical approach the existing lacrymal film is preserved and the active glandular tissue is stimulated. Additional therapy includes the application of artificial tears and saliva.
