Abstract | Mobilne, djelomične i potpune proteze još uvijek su u učestaloj uporabi u rehabilitaciji stomatognatog sustava. Najčešće se izrađuju iz polimera za bazu proteze, uglavnom poli (metil-metakrilata), ukratko PMMA. Iako s brojnim dobrim i klinički prihvatljivim svojstvima, ovaj materijal ima i nedostataka, tj. krhak je. Žvačni sustav „proizvodi“ naprezanje protezne baze stotine tisuća puta godišnje, uz učestali lom protezne baze, što predstavlja klinički nedostatak, neugodu i dodatne troškove korisnicima mobilnih proteza. Svrha ovog rada bila je opisati nedostatke mobilnih proteza, čimbenike koji dovode do njihovog pucanja, karakteristike vlaknima ojačanih kompozita (FRC) kao ojačanja, bilo u proizvodnji ili popravku polomljenih mobilnih proteza, i utjecaj različitih FRC ojačanja na mehaničke karakteristike polimera baza dentalnih proteza. U zaključku prednost se daje upotrebi vlaknima ojačanim kompozitima u svrhu ojačanja baze proteze te ističe važnost sagledavanja svih čimbenika (smjer vlakana, količina vlakana, impregnacija vlakana polimernom osnovom, adhezija između vlakana i polimerne osnove) koji utječu kako na čvrstoću vlaknima ojačanih kompozita, tako i na kvalitetu laboratorijskog i kliničkog rada u stomatološkoj mobilnoj protetici. |
Abstract (english) | Removable, partial and complete dentures are still commonly used in rehabilitation of oral function. The material of removable dentures is usually denture base polymer made predominantly of polymetylmetacrylate (PMMA) resin. Although it's a good material with numerous clinical acceptable properties, it is also hard and brittle. The masticatory system produces stresses on dentures hundreds of thousands of times per year and these have been shown to cause fatigue failures on the dentures. It's a clinical problem which cause a lot discomfort and extra costs to denture wearer.The aim of this paper was to describe removable dentures and their failures, factors influencing denture failures, characteristics of fibre-reinforced composite (FRC) as reinforcement both during repair and in the manufacturing process, and influence of different FRC reinforcements on mechanical properties of denture base polymer. Finaly for the purpose of reinforcement of denture base priority is given to
FRC. Also it is very important to include all factors (adequate adhesion, fibre orientation, type of fibre, impregnation, fibre placement and quantity) which affect both strenth of FRC and quality of laboratory and clinical work in prosthetic dentistry. |
