Abstract
Stomatolog se svakodnevno susreće s pacijentima koji boluju od različitih bolesti, odnosno poremećaja štitne žlijezde. Poremećaji se štitne žlijezde očituju kao hipertireoza i hipotireoza. Ovisno o tipu poremećaja, težini i kontroliranosti odnosno nekontroliranosti istoga, stomatolog prilagođava provedbu dentalnoga zahvata razmatrajući primjenu lokalnih anestetika, sklonost razvoju infekcija, postizanje hemostaze te djelovanje i interakcije lijekova kod pacijenata s bolestima štitne žlijezde. Važno je da stomatolog raspolaže znanjem o vrstama, patogenezi, kliničkim slikama, dijagnostici i terapiji te oralnim manifestacijama bolesti i poremećaja štitne žlijezde, ne samo radi prilagodbe dentalnih zahvata, nego i činjenice da kao takav može pridonijeti ranoj dijagnostici poremećaja.
Abstract (english)
Dentists encounter patients suffering from various diseases, such as thyroid disorders, on a daily basis. The disorders of the thyroid gland are manifested as hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Depending on the type and severity of the disorder and on whether the disorder is under control or not, the dentist adapts the dental treatment giving consideration to the application of local anesthetics, susceptibility to infections, achieving hemostasis, as well as action and interaction of drugs in patients with thyroid diseases. It is of great importance for the dentist to have the knowledge of types, pathogenesis, clinical pictures, diagnostics and therapy, together with oral manifestations of thyroid diseases and disorders, not only in order to adapt dental treatments, but also to contribute to the early diagnosis of the disorder in such a way.
