Despite the development of dental medicine, the loss of teeth continues to pose an important health issue for our population. Bridges are a fixed prosthetic therapy solution and ensure long-term aesthetical, phonetical and mastication-functional reconstruction of the stomatognathic system. Among the possible prosthetic solutions, bridges are a very common treatment option, whether it involves warn by dentures or dental implants. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to show a selection and assessment of the state of bridge dentures and to describe the fundamental principles that should be met when planning bridges for fixed prosthetic treatment. Planning treatment requires a good and comprehensive overview of the medical history supported by a clinical examination and analysis of x-ray recordings, as well as knowing the indications and rules for devising bridge structures. In addition to dentures, also important is the appropriate construction material for creating the bridge structure. Upon taking all the factors into consideration and detailed planning of the fixed prosthesis treatment, bridges may be constructed with satisfactory durability and good aesthetics, which will also ensure good mastication-functional reconstruction of the stomatognathic system.
