Abstract Razvoj tehnologije omogućio je nastanak digitalnog workflowa koji svoju primjenu nalazi i u ortodonciji. Nova tehnologija pruža inovativna rješenja za tradicionalne dentalne probleme. Intraoralni skeneri omogućuju izravno uzimanje digitalnih otisaka i uklanjaju potrebu za skladištenjem sadrenih modela, kao i mogućnost pogreške u prikazu, koja je veća u slučaju kada se koristi tradicionalni način uzimanja otisaka. Iz takvih otisaka stvara se virtualni model koji dalje pruža različite mogućnosti. Na modelu se može provesti analiza i simulirati terapija te se isto predstaviti pacijentu. Model može poslužiti za proizvodnju različitih naprava ovisno o želji ortodonta, a vrlo ga je brzo i jednostavno poslati u dentalni laboratorij.
Ovak način rada osobito je koristan u slučaju kada je potrebna suradnja s kolegama iz drugih područja stomatologije, a isto tako i kada je pacijentu teško predočiti kako će izgledati konačni ishod terapije.
U opisanom prikazu slučaja, pacijentica dolazi zbog kombiniranog ortodontsko-protetskog problema. Uzima se otisak silikonskim materijalom, izrađuje se sadreni model te se on skenira i pretvara u digitalni oblik. Zatim se na virtualnom modelu radi setup, odnosno ortodont simulira terapiju. Setup se prosljeđuje protetičaru koji na njemu virtualno provodi svoju terapiju, odnosno ostvaruje se završni izgled denticije. Pomoću 3D printera, isprinta se model te se napravi mock-up koji se postavlja pacijentu. Na taj način, ortodont, protetičar i pacijent mogu vidjeti ishod terapije izravno na pacijentu, prije nego je započela sama terapija.
Abstract (english) Technological development has led to the usage of the digital workflow, which has been implemented in orthodontics as well as other areas of dentistry. New technology provides inovative solutions to traditional dental problems. Intraoral scanners enable direct impression taking and eliminate the need for space to store dental plaster casts, as well as the possibility for error in dentition representation, which is bigger when traditional impression taking is used. From the digital impression, virtual model is made and it provides different possibilities. It can be used for analysis and therapy simulation which can then be reviewed with the patient. The model can also be used for fabrication of different appliances, according to the orthodontist. It is also quite fast and simple sending the model to a dental laboratory.
This kind of workflow is particularly useful in cases when collaboration with other dental specialists is needed and also when a patient is finding it hard to visualize the outcome of a treatment.
In the case described, patient came because of combined orthodontic and prosthetic problems. An impression was taken with sillicon material and it was scanned and transformed into a digital dental model. After that, the orthodontist simulated the planned treatment, i.e. made a setup of the dentition using the virtual dental model. The setup was forwarded to the proshtetics specialist who then virtually carried out his treatment plan, i.e. made the final setup. Using a 3D printer, the final setup was printed and a mock-up was made and placed on the patient's dentition. This way, the orthodontist, the prosthetics specialist and the patient were able to see the outcome of the planned treatment, before the treatment even began.
