Endodontically treated teeth lack resistance of tension and pressure forces. Therefore, it is essential to apply appropriate restoration to restore the tooth structure, as well as its morphological shape and function. Fibre-reinforced composite was made from fibres and matrices in order to create a new material with improved features. Fibre-reinforced posts have been present in dentistry for some time now and have been developed to overcome problems common in the clinical usage of cast post. They have an elastic modulus similar to that of dentine and apart from being aesthetic, they do not corrode. Bearing this in mind, immediate chairside post fabrication and cementation is possible in a single visit . In case of fracture, or endodontic re-treatment, the removal of fibre-reinforced posts is simple. The aim of this paper is to describe the possibilities and problematic issues regarding an endodontically supplied tooth as well as to present established publications of results and perceptions achieved by laboratory and clinical research into fibre-reinforced posts.
