Abstract U izradi svih protetskih radova okluzija zauzima važno mjesto i čini neizostavni segment u uspostavi fiziološkog odnosa između svih komponenata stomatognatog sustava.

Abstract (english) Occlusion plays an important role in the making of all prosthetic appliances and it is an indispensable part in establishing a physiologic relationship between all the components of the stomatognathic system. It is necessary to achieve both a proper static as well as dynamic occlusion. A literature overview had proposed guidelines for the selection of occlusal concepts of various types of prostheses. Mutually protected occlusion, group guidance, bilateral balanced occlusion, lingualized occlusion and monoplane occlusion are used in fixed and removable prosthodontics. Implant-protected occlusion scheme was designed in implant prosthodontics considering the varieties between dental implants and teeth and their attachment to the surrounding bone. The idea behind this concept is to reduce the overload of the marginal bone of the implant and to minimize the mechanical complications of dental implants, such as screw loosening and/or fracture, decementation of prosthetic suprastructure, fracture of the framework, fracture of restorative materials. One should be aware that even though there are guidelines for choosing an adequate occlusal concept, not every patient can be treated the same and treatment should be individualized and adapted to a specific clinical case. Occlusion is a complex field and sometimes it is difficult to conduct research without ethics violation. Answering certain questions would have to include performing experiments on people and inducing harmful conditions just to confirm or to refute theoretical considerations. Therefore, the relationship between occlusion, peri-implantitis and bone loss around the implant has not yet been confirmed in implant prosthodontics. The interest in occlusion is on the rise and a lot of research has been conducted to clarify its importance and its influence on the stomatognathic system, as well as to allow the dentist to include it in their work with the patient.
