Abstract
U ovom radu obrađene su karakteristike i specifičnosti europskog ariša, srednjoeuropse vrste šumskog drveća s isprekidanim (disjunktnim) arealom rasprostranjenosti. Radi brzog rasta ima veliku primjenu i u hortikulturi, pa se često susreće izvan prirodnih areala. U našim uvjetima najperspektivnijim su se pokazali međuvrsni hibridi L decidua (europski ariš) × L leptolepis (japanski ariš). Istraživanjima se došlo do spoznaje da ovaj hibrid daje 10-20 posto veću volumnu produkciju od europskog ariša, te se može se reći da on ima superioran rast nad obadva roditelja. Uz postojeće klonske sjemenske plantaže europskog ariša, u Hrvatskoj je potrebno osnivati i nove klonske sjemenske plantaže za proizvodnju hibridnog sjemena.
