Abstract
U ovom završnom radu obrađene su i prikazane najvažnije karakteristike pojedinih hibrida europske crne topole (Populus nigra L.). Prirodni areal rasprostranjenosti tih hibrida je južna polovica Europe, a u Hrvatskoj je sadnja kultura i plantaža hibrida najveća na područjima uz rijeke Muru, Dravu, Savu i Dunav na aluvijalnim pjeskovitim ilovačama.Od svih hibrida ističe se P.×canadensis Moench I-214 koji se zbog svog kvalitetnog drva i velike otpornosti prema biljnim bolestima i štetnicima najviše uzgaja. Vrlo je cijenjen zbog svog intenzivnog visinskog i debljinskog prirasta. Drvo topola ima široku primjenu, od drvne industrije, preko avio industrije do proizvodnje sječke za biomasu. U svakom slučaju, hibirdi europske crne topole u našoj zemlji su dosta potcijenjeni te bi im se moralo dati veću važnost.
