Different forms of masks have been present throughout the history in a variety of contexts - from ritual to theatrical to protective and even virtual in today's world. They have been used throughout human history for completely different purposes, and therefore have different forms and meanings. They can be a tool for hiding, protecting, but also the tool of the expression of the wearer. This thesis consists of a written and an experimental part. The written part explores the history of the origin and development of masks - from rituals to the modern use of various forms of masks. This thesis contextualizes the function and symbolism of traditional ancient theatrical masks in parallel with today's understanding of the various masks we are surrounded by on a daily basis and their appearance and function. The artistic-experimental part of the work consists a map of drawings of a masks viewed through the prism of everyday life, in which the whole world wears masks for more than a year. In this case, the mask is a protection, but in interpreted one is a tool for communication and easier understanding. On the other hand, we live in a time of digital world and internet platforms where almost every one of us has our own mask. The conceptual concept of the work is the development of a series of masks that would reflect different personalities or moods, as a proposal for a kind of general system of characterization. In order to avoid the typical caricature likeness that is often present in such generalized masks, symbolism, attributes and emblems associated with a particular term were used to denote a particular character.
