The products of the textile and clothing industry are ubiquitous, it is almost impossible to imagine everyday life without a piece of textile. Therefore, the textile industry plays a leading role in environmental pollution globally. Global environmental problems began at the end od the 18th century. However, changes in the environment began to be noticed only in the second half of the 20th century when the global climate had already changed significantly, healthy economic growth and development significantly disrupted, biodiversity lost, and the survival of modern civilization became questionable. In parallel with the deterioration of the environment, environmental awareness has arisen, and thus the requirements for the development of laws and legislation related to the prevention of environmental pollution. The concept of the circular economy and sustainable development emerges as a solution to the crucial issue of the state of the environment at the global level. This concept seeks to ensure progress in line with the environmental, economic and social aspects of development. With the aim of approaching the most efficient solutions in the prevention of environmental pollution caused by the production and consumption of textile materials, a survey on environmental awareness was conducted as a basis for solving global environmental problems. It is safe to say that any positive change at the global level begins with the constructive thinking and action of the individual at the local level.
