Manners and methods of monitoring, assessment and evaluation of pupils are significant segments of the educational system and they present responsible and sensitive task for the teacher. Monitoring, assessment and evaluation of pupils' progress are extremely important elements of the educational process with whom teachers' can follow educational progress and development of pupils. School grades have a great importance in showing the pupils' achievement, therefore only with continuous and systematic monitoring, assessment and evaluation of pupils in every educational situation a complete and comprehensive picture of the pupils progress and achievement can be made. In considering docimological insights out of the national context with study of documentation, essential characteristics of the Croatian and Czech educational system have been analyzed. The aim of this master's thesis was to explore the characteristics of docimological processes and to present opinions and attitudes of class teachers from 5 primary schools in the Czech Republic on assessment, monitoring and evaluation as a part of their teaching practice. The results of this research indicate involving pupils in assessment of their own work, avoiding the use of bad grades as disciplinary measures and moving away from traditional final grading based on the arithmetic mean. Regardless of their work experience, teachers have expressed readiness to evaluate their own work, they encourage pupils to self – assess and openly exchange feedback with their colleagues.
