Abstract | Gospodar prstenova, djelo engleskog književnika, pjesnika i filologa, Johna Ronalda Reuela Tolkiena, obiluje raznovrsnim fantastičnim likovima. Upravo oni čine Gospodara prstenova toliko privlačnim i popularnim djelom. U radu se navodi Tolkienova biografija te detaljna bibliografija, nakon čega slijedi kratak sadržaj Gospodara prstenova. Sljedeće poglavlje prati svjetski uspjeh djela kojemu se u početku malotko nadao. Također, objašnjavaju se brojni simboli i prenesena značenja koji možda na prvi pogled u djelu nisu prepoznatljivi. Spominje se i C. S. Lewis kao Tolkienov vjeran prijatelj, ali i sličnost između Lewisovih Kronika iz Narnije i Gospodara prstenova. Objašnjeno je što je to zapravo Međuzemlje te njegova simbolika. Velika poveznica djela je i s religijom, stoga su pojašnjene veze Gospodara prstenova i religije. Sljedeće poglavlje temelji se na fantastici kao uvodu u ono što opisuje ovo djelo, a to je visoka fantastika. Poglavlje koje slijedi donosi opise rasa koje se javljaju u Gospodaru prstenova – njihove osobine, fizički izgled i ono po čemu je svaka rasa posebna. U petom poglavlju opisuje se tijek nastanka popularnih filmova – od samih početaka, dok ni sam Tolkien nije bio zadovoljan predloženim sinopsisima pa do konačnog snimanja i popularizacije filma. Na kraju se donosi zaključak kako je Gospodar prstenova jedinstveno djelo upravo po različitosti rasa koje obitavaju u izmišljenom svijetu Međuzemlja i to je ono što čitatelje iznova privlači u taj svijet. Premda je ispočetka malo tko vjerovao u popularnost ovog djela, danas ono predstavlja svijet kakav nitko u povijesti književnosti nikada prije nije stvorio. |
Abstract (english) | The Lord of the Rings, the work of the English writer, poet, and philologist, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, abounds with different fantastic characters. They are the ones who make The Lord of the Rings so attractive and popular. The work is based on Tolkien's biography and detailed bibliography, followed by the The Lord of the Rings summary. The next chapter follows the success of the book – from being considered as childish, and a few of them believed that it would experience success, to the fact that the book had a worldwide success. Numerous symbols and transmitted meanings are explained which are not visible on first sight in the book. C.S. Lewis is mentioned as Tolkien's devoted friend, but what is also mentioned is the similarity between The Narnia Chronicles by C.S.Lewis, and The Lord of the Rings. It is explained what Middle-earth is, and its symbolism. The book has great connections with religion, so the relationships between The Lord of the Rings and the religion are explained. The next chapter is based on fiction as an introduction in what describes this work, and it is high fantasy. The next chapter are the descriptions of races – their characteristics, physical appearance, and what each race is special about. The fifth chapter describes the process of movie production, from the very beginning, when even Tolkien was not satisfied with the proposed synopsis, to the final recording and the popularization of the movie. At the end, there is a conclusion that The Lord of the Rings is a unique work just because the dissimilarity of the races which dwell in a fictitious world of Middle- earth, and this is what attracts the readers again and again into this world. Even though there were few who believed in the popularity of the work at the beginning, today it represents a world that nobody in the history of literature has ever created before. |
