Nowadays music is becoming more recognized and evaluated media in many medical specialties, especially in fields such as physical medicine and rehabilitation. Music is one of the best ways to calm and relax children and musical activities are very suitable for children. Both musical activities and dance activities in children have ability to develop will and desire to play and exercise. It is well known that children have a need for movement and changing the static and dynamic activities which can be achieved through music games. Musical games enable development of motor skills, speech and creativity. Furthermore, it has been proven that music has a positive effect on the intelligence of the individial. Musical games are simple and allow creative expression and a feeling of success. This is the main reason for music activities to become and important factor in working with children with disabilities. Music therapy encourages involvement of the entire body in children and thus contributes their health and quality of life in general. Moreover, it encourages socialization and emotional development and it represents a purposeful and pleasurable activity. Dance with music emerges as a medium for the develompent of various skills. Dance is an activity that enables the achievement of different aims, therefore it is considered to be a therapeutic agent. Possibility of a body alignment and movement encourages learning ability and functional integration of the body. When performing dance moves with the child, functional, motor and psychosocial skills are being developed. It is important to pay attention to choice of music while performing dance moves, and it is important to make sure that the music is close and familiar to children. It also has to be short in order for children to remember it more easily. Movements with music which children will be performing will later on be connected into variety of rhytmic units and various forms of children's dance games.
