Miro Gavran is one of the most successful contemporary domestic literary authors. His success is witnessed by numerous awards. He is the only living playwrighter with festival dedicated in his honor. He intended many of his novels for children and teenagers. Guided by the belief that in the literature, not a a single problem from everyday life should be hidden from children and teenagers, he created many books for these age groups that evoke problematic (taboo) topics. This master's thesis will be based precisely on problematic (taboo) topics in Miro Gavran's novels for children and tennagers. The first part of the thesis presents a theoretical perspective on children's literature, literature for tennagers and problematic (taboo) topics in literature. Then follows Miro Gavran's biography, a list of his novels, plays and awards. Afterwards, Gavran's novels for children and teenagers are described more thoroughly and the taboo topics of these novels are listed. Each problem is explained by a description of the situations or characters by which Gavran speaks about a particular problem. Gavran's novels bring a wide range of problematic topics. He writes about issues such as falling in love, quarreling with parents, marital infidelity, rape, death, illness, etc. He does not overlook the topics that are least represented in the literature, namely politics and religion. Almost all the novels have a happy ending, which gives the reader hope and encourages them to solve their problems positively.
