The aim of this thesis is to find out whether students use the Internet exclusively for the entertainment and social communication, or they use it in education purposes as well. Furthermore, the objective is to investigate the frequency and extent of Internet usage for learning and homework. In addition, this study deals with students' level of awareness of the dangers of the Internet, as well as their perception about the accuracy and reliability of the information available. Nowadays, Internet is no longer just a common research information and communication tool. There is a huge amount of information available on the Internet, thus including knowledge sources for elementary school education. This paper includes the research study on the Internet as a source of knowledge. The survey was given to 100 respondents, seventh and eighth grade students of Ludbreg Elementary School. The study revealed that the great majority of respondents use the Internet mainly for the entertainment and social communication.
