This thesis will explain the term of nursery age children nutrition, the importance of healthy diet and everyday physical activity. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the problems that had become more often in today’s society. These include consuming unhealthy food and lack of physical activity when it comes to children. For proper evolvement of children, it is necessary to enable them optimal conditions for proper growth and development. More and more children are overweight and obese, which is risk factor for development of chronic disease in later age. Because of that, it is encouraged in early age for children to understand the importance of personal health, its preservation and promotion. Most important role in this takas parents, health professionals and preschool institutions. In this thesis, the emphasis is on importance of education, encouraging healthy habits and everyday activity in children and adults. Participants in this study were children between the age of two and three from two mixed nursery groups. There were 28 participants in total, 15 girls and 13 boys. For assessment of nutritional status, the following parameters were measured: body weight, body height, waist circumference and hip circumference. Study has shown that 68% of children have normal body weight, 14% is overweight and 18% falls in group of obese children.
