Abstract Digitalni mediji danas su svakodnevno prisutni u životu djece rane i predškolske dobi. U razvoju dječje sposobnosti samostalne kritičke prosudbe i izbora medijskih sadržaja, roditelji i odgojitelji imaju ulogu modela i vodstva za pravilnu uporabu digitalnih medija. Uporaba istih u kontekstu ranog i predškolskog odgoja i obrazovanja ovisi o kompetencijama i stavovima odgojitelja, o opremljenosti ustanova, prethodnom iskustvu korištenja digitalnih medija u radu te dobi odgojne skupine. Polovica ispitanih odgojitelja internet primjenjuje svakog dana u radu s djecom. Tradicionalni medij čija uporaba i relevantnost ne opadaju jest knjiga, odnosno slikovnica. Odgojitelji se smatraju medijski pismenima i podržavaju razvoj medijske pismenosti djece u ranoj i predškolskoj dobi.
Abstract (english) Today digital media is daily present in the lives of children of early and preschool age. They are a socialization factor that shape children's attitudes, values and behaviors. The effects of digital media on children can be positive and negative, depending on the suitability and adaptation of media content to children and the protective impact of the child's environment. In the development of children's ability to independently critically judge and choose media content, parents and educators have the role of models and guides for the proper use of digital media. Media literacy, the ability to access, critically evaluate and create media content, is an important competence for educatos' use of digital media in preparation and practical work with children. Their use in the context of early and preschool education depends on the competencies and attitudes of educators, the equipment of institutions, previous experience of using digital media in work and the age of the educational group. The aim of this research was to provide insight from an educators perspective on the assessment of their media literacy and the habit of including digital media in educational work. For the needs of the research, a survey questionnaire was created, which was filled out by 150 educators. The ratio of the use of traditional and new media in the preparation and work with children of early and preschool age is compared, according to the research data. Also, the paper outlines the material conditions for the use and habits of using digital media in the preparation and work with children, as well as educators' attitudes related to the impact of digital media and the development of media literacy. According to the results of the research, digital media is largely represented in educators' work preparation and work with children. For the vast majority of educators, preparation for work involves daily use of the Internet. Half of the surveyed educators use the Internet every day in their work with children. A traditional medium whose use and relevance does not decline is a book or a picture book. Educators consider themselves to be media literate and support the development of media literacy of children of early and preschool age.
