The fairy tale, as a literary genre, intertwines real and miraculous elements. It meets the needs of the child to get to know the world, and serves as an educational tool for children to adopt certain values and patterns of behavior. The fairy tale about Little Red Riding Hood can serve as proof that various psychological complexes (such as Oedipus complex), which are part of growing up, can lead to various destinies. This paper will present the literary-theoretical determinants of the fairy tale, as well as its history. It talks about archetypal stories but also about how a fairy tale affects a child. Second part of this paper deals with psychoanalytic interpretations in literature where the meaning of interpretation and psychoanalysis can be found in more details. This is followed by a presentation of the psychoanalytic interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood. Although Little Red Riding Hood has many different translations and authors, this paper will feature the work of Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm and Paul Delarue, as well as a review of their lives and work. Also, the symbolism of the basic motifs in Little Red Riding Hood will be shown, such as: wolf, red color,hunter / father and forest. A review of what has been written can be found in the very conclusion of the paper.
