The richness of Croatian cultural heritage is woven into modern life and the encounter of children with heritage is a good way to shape the identity of the "citizen of the world". The aim of this paper is to explore how children of early childhood age experience folk heritage and whether it affects their artistic creation and production. The theoretical part of the paper presents knowledge about the connection between cultural and folk heritage and the construction of the cultural identity of the child, the connection between the educational process and homeland, and the connection between cultural heritage and visual art. Since it is being explored how the encounter of children with heritage will act as an incentive for visual activity, the theoretical part gives a review of fine art in general, visual and compositional elements and art techniques and materials as well as children's visual art. Afterwards, the role of the game in the context of the artistic creation of the child of early and preschool age is being described, with an emphasis on the role of preschool teachers in stimulating the creative art process. In the practical part of this paper, through the project approach, the aim is to look into the importance of a quality spatial environment in the permeation of cultural and heritage incentives and artistic activities. Guided by the principle of graduality, using a problem and research approach, the incentive of cultural heritage to the child's active experiential learning is being explored.
