The Motives for Physical Activity Measure – Revised, MPAM-R“ (Ryan i sur., 1997).
Abstract (english) It is extremely important to be physically active nowadays. There is a wide range of recreational activities, and many people opt for dancing. Various motives influence people to do physical activities and to dance. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the implementation of epidemiological restrictions such as keeping the distance and forbidding physical activity in indoor spaces which impacted the dancers as well. The research aim is to establish whether the COVID-19 pandemic influenced recreational dancers' motivation for dancing. The research wants to establish if the motivation for dancing has changed (decreased or increased) during the pandemic concerning the period before the pandemic, to establish if time of dance activity has changed and to find out if the motives for dancing have changed. The participants were 132 recreational, senior dancers from the Republic of Croatia. The instrument was an online questionnaire that consists of sociodemographic data, questions about motivation related to the participant's subjective estimation and a questionnaire „The Motives for Physical Activity Measure – Revised, MPAM-R“ (Ryan et al., 1997). The results have shown that motivation for dancing decreased the same as the time spent dancing. The results have shown eight factors before the pandemic, four of which can be interpreted. The factors are: factor of appearance, social factor, skills factor and happiness and internal pleasure factor. Further research showed four factors during the pandemic, three of which can be interpreted. The factors are: pleasure, skills and challenge factor, appearance factor and social factor. The dancer's perception of their motivation has changed, the same as the number of factors and their percentage of variance which means that the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced their motivation for dancing.
