Abstract
Pretilost je postala problem koji sve više zabrinjava svjetsku populaciju. Glavni uzrok pretilosti proizlazi iz neravnoteže unosa i potrošnje kalorija, što znači da osobe često unose više kalorija nego što ih potroše tijekom svakodnevnih aktivnosti. Pretilost kod djece može izazvati brojne značajne probleme i komplikacije, stoga ju je važno prepoznati i na pravilan način tretirati. Pretilost se najčešće prepoznaje mjerenjem indeksa tjelesne mase čovjeka (ITM), ali može se prepoznati mjerenjem opsega struka ili opća procjena tjelesne građe. Glavnu ulogu u sprečavanju pretilosti kod djece ima obitelj. Obitelj djece treba biti uzor i promicati zdrava prehrambene navike i tjelesnu aktivnost, što je od iznimne važnosti za suzbijanje pretilosti. No, isto tako važno je naglasiti da obitelj ne djeluje izolirano već je integrirani dio šireg društvenog konteksta. Također, u radu je provedeno istraživanje kako zdrave obiteljske navike utječu na ITM djeteta predškolske dobi.
Abstract (english)
Obesity has become a problem that worries the world's population more and more. The main cause of obesity stems from an imbalance of calorie intake and expenditure, which means that people often consume more calories than they expend during daily activities. Obesity in children can cause numerous significant problems and complications, so it is important to recognize it and treat it properly. Obesity is most often recognized by measuring the human body mass index (BMI), but it can also be recognized by measuring waist circumference or a general assessment of body composition. The main role in preventing obesity in children is played by the family. Children's families should be role models and promote healthy eating habits and physical activity, which is extremely important for combating obesity. However, it is also important to emphasize that the family does not act in isolation but is an integrated part of the wider social context. Also, in this master thesis, research was carried out on how healthy family habits affect the BMI of preschool children.
