The study aimed to gather data on children's participation in additional physical exercise programs, as well as to examine whether the percentage of children engaged in sports would be higher among parents who are also active in sports. According to most definitions, physical activity encompasses body movements involving skeletal muscles and requiring energy expenditure. It plays a crucial role not only in proper growth and development but also in the psychophysical development and overall health of preschool-aged children. Parents have an extremely important role and responsibility in promoting physical activity in children and encouraging their involvement in some form of exercise. They act as support, but also significant factors in initiating engagement in physical exercise. Numerous studies indicate that children of parents who engage in physical exercise are likely to recognize the importance of physical activity themselves and continue with these activities into later life. The research was conducted using an online survey as a data collection method. It was voluntary and anonymous and consisted of 16 questions. It involved 125 participants, of whom 98 percent were female. Participants were parents of preschool-aged children enrolled in daycare programs. Preschool age refers to children aged three to seven years. The data obtained in this study imply that more than half of preschool-aged children do not engage in additional physical exercise either within or outside daycare settings. Furthermore, the results show that the percentage of children engaged in sports is higher among parents who are also active in sports.
