Abstract (english) School teachers usually handle unappropriate behaviours of students or lack of discipline in a classroom, which can lead to unpleasantness and stress. This graduation thesis is speaking about stress, which can be defined as a state of physical and psychical tension that has been influenced by psychophysical disbalance. Onwards, there are mentioned stressors and their division on physical stressors (heat), social stressors (poverty) and psychological stressors (workplace conflicts). Some of the most frequent stress factors in a workplace are time pressure connected to deadlines, work overload and dissatisfactory colleague interactions. One of the first step to find methods in order to overcome stress situations is to perceive and recognise stress. Equally, a lot of attention in workplace is given to stress at the teaching profession and how to manage and face it. A lot of research represented in this thesis describes the teaching profession as a stressful. Some of the strategies for managing stress are training, relaxation and developing and maintaining healthy friendships and interactions in general. Consequences of stress can be divided as a pyhisical consequences (tyroid disaeases), psychical consequences (feeling of guilt) and social consequences (alcoholism). As a part of this thesis there has been carried out an research, whose main goal was to examine if there is a difference in the perception of a stress between primary and secondary school female and male teachers considering gender, workplace and being a primary or secondary school teacher. Data has been collected by online questionnaire throughout Republic of Croatia, and 591 participant have been taking part in it. Results indicate that school teachers have perceiving their proffesion as a stressful (M = 3,77). There has been determined statistically significant difference at perception of a stress throughout gender (p = 0,003) and female teachers are mentioning higher stress level than male teachers. Results show that there is no difference at stress perception by primary and secondary school teachers connected to years of working experience, their workplace or work in primary and secondary school.
