ADHD (attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder) is one of the most common behavioral disorders in children. Numerous names and etiological assumptions of the disorder have changed throughout history. One of the assumed causes for the disorder is organic problems and various brain damage (consequences of viral infections, etc.). Some research has suggested another theory, that the causes for disorder are found in social factors: families, emotional problems of the child (anxiety and depression). Today it is commonly believed that many factors contribute to the development of ADHD syndrome: genetic predisposition, brain damage and dysfunction and environmental factors. Symptoms include attention-related difficulties and behavioral impairment through hyperactivity (excessive activity) and impulsiveness in behavior. For the possibility of alleviating the symptoms of disorder and self-control behavioral learning it is necessary to go to the therapy that involves various therapeutic techniques depending on the symptoms, the child's age, family dynamics, school fociation and society. There is an overriding importance for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the development in an equal life of the community. Appropriate education of parents, family members and teachers of ADHD children undoubtedly increases the quality of the child's life. The aim of this diploma thesis is to present some of the basic characteristics of ADHD, inform public about the children with this disorder and emphasize the importance of their inclusion in the regular classroom.
