Abstract Tema ovog završnog rada pod nazivom Govorne tradicijske igre u radu s djecom predškolske dobi jest prikaz vaţnost igre za djeĉji razvoj, posebno govorno tradicijskih igara. Dijete govor usvaja slušajući ga i govoreći ga.
Abstract (english) The theme of this final paper entitled Verbal traditional games in work with preschool children is an illustration of the importance of game for children's development, especially verbal traditional games. The paper itself is divided to three main parts: game, speech and verbal traditional games with examples of games from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Every child has a need for game and it is the most important activity of each child. Through the game children explore, learn, develop imagination, self-confidence and social relations with others, develop the speech and enrich the vocabulary. The game contributes the children feel safe, successful and capable. Through the game they establish the first contacts, therefore the socialization is extremely important for child’s growth. With socialization they adopt certain knowledge, attitudes, behaviour, values and norms. The speech is the means of communication with other people, expressing our thoughts and feelings. Children’s speech development is divided into two period: preverbal period and verbal period. The child adopts the speech by listening and speaking. For optimal development of child’s speech it is very important children to have good verbal model and to encourage the speech development through games, songs, tales or nursery rhymes. The game is very important in speech development of children because the speech follows almost every game – speech and game are mutually fulfilling. The game is the best activity that helps in situations when children are passive and solitary, because through game they relax and gain confidence, as well the courage to speak. Traditional games are games that are passed from generation to generation. The nursery rhymes that are most commonly in verbal games represent part of tradition and culture. Verbal games contribute to development of correct pronunciation of certain vocals, reducing verbal-lingual difficulties, and encourages the development of attention and memory.
